TUSK – Wildlife & Nature Photographer
I have had an interest in both photography and nature for as long as I can remember. I come from a family where photography is more a lifestyle than a hobby, and we never missed an opportunity to visit the Southern African Game Parks. So, from an early age, my interest in both photography and the natural world were stimulated and facilitated.
It was a natural progression to combine the two when life conspired to ensure that I was placed in a situation to enjoy Wildlife Photography as a profession and lifestyle rather than a hobby. Initially I did do a lot of commercial photography to supplement my income as a wildlife photographer but I very quickly realized that my true passion was with wildlife and nature photography and my efforts were concentrated in making this a reality.
Natures Best Photography Africa is in search of the best African images possible to grace the pages of the winners catalogue and to achieve that it is important that the judges we select are respected working professionals that daily push the envelope of the genre of nature photography themselves. Camera and in particular sensor developments over the last decade have made photography possible that wildlife photographers only dreamed of in the past. We at Natures Best Photography Africa acknowledge that photographers that enter their hard earned images into Natures Best Photography Africa can rightfully expect the organizers to appoint judges that can recognize when photographers have succeeded in pushing the envelope.
We understand that there is a subjective factor in the evaluation of an image but we are determined that the debate on what is great and what not should be under taken by respected professionals that produces current work that inspires their peers. Over the years to come we will work hard on fine-tuning a judging panel respected by all.
