Congratulations and thanks to all who contributed to the successful rollout of the 4th instalment of Nature’s Best Photography Africa.

It is no small feat running a global photography competition that is judged across 10 different categories. Our annual programme includes the competition logistics, marketing and judging, the publishing of a coffee table book, the printing and installation of the winner’s exhibition, the coordination of the gala awards, educational programme and the marketing and other logistics that are essential to an initiative of this type.

We are proud that we have been able to consistently deliver on an initiative that is not only able to stand equal to many of the international nature competitions but to exceed them in certain of our deliverables. This is truly a ‘Proudly African’ initiative.

The value of our prizes is the largest in the world for any nature photography competition of this type consisting of photographic safaris to some of Africa’s richest wildlife zones. The curation, printing and framing of the exhibition is of world class standard and our annual hard covered winner’s catalogue is exceptional.

What makes this even more impressive is the fact that we have secured very little in the way of cash sponsorship. We have been able to deliver on this initiative due to the kind sponsorship of the prizes by & Beyond, Chobe River Lodge and CNP Safaris.

Travel Africa assists us from a media perspective with valuable exposure in their popular magazines and digital platforms. Iziko Museums of South Africa with the venue, catering for the gala awards and marketing support. Kingfisher assists us with the couriering of the artworks and the books and Novus Holdings gives us a preferential rate that allows us to publish the book each year.

But most importantly we need to thank the photographers who support the initiative through their participation and payment of entry fees and those who purchase the book each year. 100% of the revenue generated from the books is responsible for raising most of the funds required for us to deliver on Nature’s Best Photography Africa each year.

We have ambitious plans to grow Nature’s Best Photography Africa from a touring and educational perspective and to include an exciting cellular phone category which would allow even more people to enter the competition each year.

But in order to achieve these goals and to ensure the sustainability and growth of NBP Africa we need to secure sponsorship and we invite the private, corporate and government sector to partner with us in this regard.

NBP Africa provides a valuable platform for Africa to tell her own stories, to encourage photographic excellence amongst existing photographers, to foster a love for and desire to protect our natural resources and to attract new audiences from all segments of our population to the benefits of photography and environmental tourism.

We hope that you enjoy this years exhibition and catalogue even more than last years and invite you to partner with us to grow this wonderful initiative so that it continues to grow and thrive for the benefit of our continent, her people and her guests.

With respect at all times

Craig Mark
