More about Brian Joffe

Photography has been one of my passions since I was 8 years old. The challenge, born then and sustained ever since, has been to record the perfect photographic image. Of course, this is a mercurial target and just when it seems to be within one’s grasp, general standards advance, new opportunities arise and personal goals are almost imperceptibly upgraded. And so the passion is constantly re-affirmed, the quest has new life breathed into it and I embark on fresh adventures in the fields of nature and wildlife photography.

Spending my working hours in the cut and thrust of the corporate business world means that stress fatigue is a constant threat to physical and spiritual well-being. That is why I plan my schedules to allow frequent photographic outings to places like Botswana, where the Landrovers of the game-park trips and the boats of the Chobe River photo shoots are instruments of pure therapy. Putting my eye to the view finder of the camera becomes an act of regeneration in an outdoor environment that I love, despite the challenges of its kaleidoscope of changing elements, elements like the heat, the sun and the rain.

It is only in such circumstances that one can experience the privilege of the African sunsets, the cry of the fish eagle, the stealth of the crocodile stalking doves at the river’s edge or the grunt of the baboon in its bizarre brutality of devouring a juvenile steenbuck. These are all scenes that I have witnessed in my quest to master the combinations of light and composition while creating photographic images that will satisfy a multitude of different tastes in the world of visual poetry and art.
